Developments of 'Choices & Decisions'
Mairi MacDonald, now back in Scotland, is a former VSO volunteer in Malawi 2003-2006. She designed the game along side primary and secondary teachers and out of school youth leaders and then conducted a successful pilot study on the game in 2007. As a result of this the Malawi Ministry of Education endeavour to see a game in each of the 3000 schools in the country.
She presented at the International HIV&AIDS conference in Mexico in August 2008 where the game was received very positively. Whilst the game has been developed in Malawi, it is being played in other countries including Scotland, Uganda, El Salvador, Papua New Guinea and Mexico, Canada, India, South Africa following the conference.
Developments within Scotland.
The game is a useful tool for teachers in Scotland who have links with African schools to raise awareness of the issues facing young people in respective African countries.

The game has been translated into Spanish and is available in Chichewa. |
In partnership with the Western Isles Health Promotion, it is currently being incorporated into some youth provisions as a resource for Sexual Health programmes. |
